About the Rockpalast ArchivAcknowledgements - Information SourcesThis page in
german !
Hallo, my name is Michael Marsch and I'm the webmaster of this archive. As a Rockpalast fan from the beginning, I always like to reflect upon the Rocknights; I look at video recordings and listen to the tapes (of course to the published DVDs). There have been astounding concerts in this series that still count among the best that German TV has had to offer as far as rock music is concerned. That's why I was so pleased that Rockpalast was brought back to life in 1995. The special appeal of the Rocknights for me was that everything was done live: Concerts, TV and radio broadcasts. With this archive, I would like to give information about each individual Rocknight to interested parties. Unfortunately, not everything is complete and I would appreciate any help, tips, info and opinions. I'm especially interested in reports and experiences from the Rockpalast fans who were there or saw the TV broadcasts. I wouldn't mind great photos from the concerts either! You'll find all present information like concert or broadcast dates at WDR Rockpalast Homepage! We're not competing with each other, but expanding our offers. The Rockpalast Archive is not an official WDR page. I'm running it privately. But of course I am in contact with the Rockpalast editor's office, nearly 30 years - from 1974 to 2003 Peter Rüchel did this job. His follower is Peter Sommer. I'm also in contact with the Rockpalast Info-Line (formerley Rockpalast Club) team (Harry, Michael, Uwe, Claudia, Stefan) and Thomas (Internet), as well as with a few Rockpalast fans.
Updates will not be made quite so often in the future. For the most part, internet links and discographies will be updated, and band infos only when necessary. I will try to include reports and impressions from fans (and musicians), as well as literature, fanzines and band videos. Furthermore, a picture archive of the Rocknights and the Open Airs is available. I'm also adding info and pictures of the single concerts wich Rockpalast recorded. Original information from the Rockpalast staff (WDR) has been used whenever possible. At the end of this page, you will find the sources of information that were used for my and other reports. For the most part, the archive reports on the Rockpalast Nights (17) and Open Airs (5) between 1977 and 1986, as well as from 1995 to 2004 that have not yet been included in the official WDR Rockpalast page. The later Rockpalast are of course listed there are links to the respective sites of WDR Rockpalast HomePage. You'll find pictures and information from the new festivals as Bizarre or Rock am Ring at the picture archive. On top of that, there are alphabetic and
chronological Production lists with all the
WDR Rockpalast or Rocklife concerts that have ever taken place.
You'll find further information in the Impressum (german), Rockpalast Archiv FAQ and the Backstage files !
